About Ink & Insight
I have been teaching high school ELA in Saskatchewan for 28 years, specializing in ELA basics, communication, literacy, academic writing, and grade-appropriate expectations. I have been qualified to teach senior ELA courses my entire career and have worked collaboratively with select teachers in Saskatchewan to validate the ELA provincial assessment which begins field testing in Fall 2026.
Throughout my career, I have found students often know what they want to say but don’t always know how to say it. They are asked to navigate complex texts, seek extra help, find editors, or improve communication, but they are often given limited direction, don’t know how to effectively spot their own errors (or errors of others), or break down difficult assignments. This means there are often fewer opportunities for students to improve their ELA skills in a truly meaningful way.
I provide personalized tutoring, skill-specific group drop-in sessions, and tiered proofreading and editorial coaching designed specifically for Grade 9-12 and first-year university students. Learning and communication often require targeted instruction ranging from fundamental comprehension and light grammar direction to advanced essay structure and voice development. Ink & Insight provides a student-centred approach aimed at strengthening basic ELA skills and communication without doing the work for the student. Through instruction and independent practice, students can expect to improve understanding of ELA basics, communication skills, clarity, structure, or argument quality.
Whether you are a grade nine student trying to navigate high school ELA expectations for the first time, a grade ten student trying to understand ELA basics, or a grade eleven or twelve student preparing for post-secondary education and looking to elevate your work to the more rigorous demands of post-secondary education, I can provide the tailored support you need. Through personal online tutoring, ELA basics drop-in sessions, and academic editing, I offer suggestions for improvement, examples of wordings, voice changes, style elements, and grammatical tips. Students complete their own work - I provide instruction that aims to clarify information and reduce concepts to an understanding that meets the needs of the individual student.
Students: I will guide you through tough course material, suggest writing corrections, and help you understand how to improve future assignments. Think of this as having a professional ELA teacher or writing coach directly in your corner. The goal is better grades, stronger writing, and increased confidence.
Parents: I provide structured academic support while maintaining strict academic integrity. I do not do the work for students. Instead, I help strengthen ELA basics, clarity, organization, grammar, or argument development. Every session is an opportunity to receive professional feedback and face-to-face instruction tailored specifically to the student and their unique goals.
Clarity. Confidence. Credibility.
